Print: Hills of Gold II
Dreamlike, dry California hills with the fog rolling in. This is what I see when I hike the driest parts of the Bay Area: an endless sea of gold topped by soft fog and a brilliant blue sky.
Gouache on cold pressed watercolor paper.
Original: 8 x 10

This painting was a pure dream, straight out of my imagination. I wanted to capture how I felt when I hike the hills of the Bay Area - out in Brionnes, Lafayette, or Wildcat Canyon. And how I felt was… in the middle of “nowhere,” but in the middle of a dream, somewhat surreal, surrounded by dry fragrant grass under the dome of a giant blue sky, with nothing else in sight. A dream I went back to, with my hiking boots and water bottle, again and again and again.
